The Mak Lab, founded by Dr. Dimitri Makridis, PhD, BCBA-D, COBA, is a comprehensive center-based ABA program designed to support individuals with autism and other developmental needs. The program offers 1:1 supports tailored to each client's specific goals and challenges, ensuring personalized and effective therapy. Through collaboration with school district partners, insurance funders, county boards of developmental disabilities (DD), and the various scholarships available, The Mak Lab extends its expertise into educational environments, providing critical behavioral and academic interventions.

The Mak Lab is a proud provider for the Autism Scholarship Program (ASP) and the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship (JPSN), allowing families to access ABA therapy with financial support. With a focus on evidence-based strategies, The Mak Lab aims to improve the social, communication, and adaptive skills of children, empowering them to thrive in various settings.

  • Functional learning focuses on teaching individuals practical, real-world skills that are necessary for daily life. This approach emphasizes the development of abilities that enhance independence and quality of life, such as self-care, communication, and social interactions. It aims to help individuals apply learned skills in meaningful ways across various settings, including home, school, and the community.

  • unctional academics involve teaching basic academic skills, such as math, reading, and writing, that are directly tied to daily living activities. These lessons are designed to be practical and applicable to everyday tasks, such as counting money, reading signs, or writing a grocery list. The goal is to equip individuals with the academic tools necessary for independent living and participation in society.

  • Functional Communication Training is an evidence-based intervention used to replace challenging behaviors with effective communication skills. FCT teaches individuals to use appropriate and functional ways to express their needs and desires, reducing frustration and improving social interactions. It often includes verbal, gestural, or assistive communication methods tailored to the individual's abilities and needs.

  • Social skills training involves teaching individuals the necessary skills to interact appropriately with others in various social settings. This includes understanding social cues, engaging in conversations, taking turns, and managing emotions. Social skills training helps individuals develop the tools needed to form and maintain relationships, navigate social environments, and improve overall social functioning.
